Joyce Kemp - Principal Architect

Joyce Kemp graduated with a Bachelors of Architecture degree (B.Arch) from the University of Port Elizabeth during 1992.  As architect she obtained invaluable experience at well known architectural firms in George and Paarl before joining her husband during 2006 to solidify and expand the young & growing architectural practice. Her résumé includes work on a wide spectrum of projects ranging from historical homesteads and residential homes, hotels and shopping centers, hospitals and estates.

Her intuitive sense of style and design creativity are the guiding forces behind the practice. As a perfectionist her eye for detail and innate sense of proportion is what drives every design decision at JG Kemp Architects. She loves working with people and is passionate about finding the appropriate and sensitive solution, no matter how difficult the commission.

Founding member Japie Kemp graduated with a Bachelors of Architecture degree (B.Arch) from the University of Port Elizabeth during 1994.  After gaining experience as a junior architect and working for a local Paarl practice as a junior partner, he went on establish his private practice during 2004. He has been involved in a wide variety of projects including hospitals, offices, sports facilities, historic homesteads, estate guidelines and residential buildings.

Growing up in the Boland formed and shaped him by instilling a deep love for vernacular architecture. His design sensibilities are shaped by a strong sense of place, respect for the environment and the application of good scale & proportion. Technical documentation and project administration are performed at the highest level of service. Client satisfaction is ultimately what drives him to work hard and succeed at his chosen profession.

When he is not working all hours of the day, he can by found dreaming of his next fishing trip to the Okavango or rowing on the Berg River.
