JG Kemp Architects is a professional architectural practice offering personal, sensitive, innovative and regional design solutions across a wide spectrum of user groups and markets. We are enrolled with The South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP).

 

The practice was established during 2004 and our office is located in Paarl, Western Cape. We are a husband and wife team who both obtained B.Arch. degrees at the University of Port Elizabeth.

 

We offer expertise in a variety of project types, including single residential, housing development schemes, hotels and guest houses, restoration and interiors, commercial building i.e. offices, shopping centres and hospitals.

 

Currently we are acting as controlling architects for the following Estates: Diemersfontein Wine & Country Estate (Wellington), Le Joubert Estate, Zomerlust Estate and Welgevonden Estate (all situated in Paarl). Japie is also a long standing member of the Wellington Heritage and Built Environment Committee.

 

As a team we take tremendous pride in our work.  We are passionate and enthusiastic about design and meticulous in our documentation.  We enjoy management of projects, the camaraderie of team work and always strive to deliver successful and cost effective projects.  As a practice we aim to evolve and develop at all times and are excited and confident of new challenges.

Who we are
Our service

The standard architect’s service and the architect’s function in performing this service for each work stage are set out below :

Stage 1: Inception and Appraisal              

                -  Receive, appraise and report on the client’s requirements

 

Stage 2 : Concept and Viability      

                -  Prepare an initial design study

 

Stage 3 : Design Development         

                -  Development of the design

                -  Incorporation of local authority requirements

                -  Review and incorporation of other consultants services

 

Stage 4 : Documentation and procurement

                -  Prepare documentation sufficient for local authority submission

                -  Complete construction documentation and proceed to call for tenders

 

Stage 5 : Contract administration and Construction

                -  Contract administration consisting of issuing of drawings, specifications and details

                -  Site Inspections

                -  Issuing of practical completion

                -  Assisting client in obtaining occupation certificate

 

Stage 6 : Close Out

                -  Final inspection

                -  Handover and issuing certificate of final completion

                -  Provide the client with as-built drawings
